It is important to have a sturdy halter for training and leading your mini zebu calves. If you are leaving the halter on around the clock remember that cattle are not clean and will get the halters dirty so choose your color accordingly.

A good halter makes training and showing your Mini Zebu much easier. It also causes less pain than a nose ring some use. The Mini Zebu Halter allows you to force the animal to be stationary which helps you train with treats and brush or medicate the animal.

A word of caution, halters can get stuck on stuff around barns and pastures, so be sure you make the area safe for the animal or are removing it when turning them out. Ultimately this decision is up to you. For example when we first got Rusty & Rosie, we left halters AND Lead lines on them until we got them more use to us and ended up taking Rusty’s off pretty quickly because he was very food motivated and would come to us anyway. We left Rosies on with a long 25′ lunge line so we could step on it and stop her. After a month we just left the halter on if we needed to tie her up to try and make her more comfortable with us. Not long after that we quit haltering her as well.
